Mission

"To Make Disciples for Christ"

Vision

“He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what the Lord requires of you, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”  Micah 6:8

Do Justly

“Do” is an action verb that mandates to the Christian church and its members that they must be active, not passive recipients of the gospel.  Like another two-letter action verb used by Jesus in the Great Commission, “Go”, “do” requires us to act upon our faith and be involved in the happenings of this world.

At Courthouse we . . .

Strive to be continually active in our community, ever seeking to address the felt needs and spiritual needs of those in the Chesterfield and Richmond area.

Strive to meet the needs of those within our church, meeting their spiritual needs and doing our best to help them with any other area of need.

Will be active in the worldwide mission of the Adventist church, seeking any way to help take the gospel to the world.  We will support our members called to missionary service and seek ways to involve the whole church in missionary endeavors.

Prioritize the work of community outreach, and seek to establish a regular community outreach center that functions efficiently and effectively within our community.

Seek to help the less fortunate inside and outside the church, in ways that are effective and lasting.

Prioritize our obligation to train our children and help them become true Disciples of Christ.  We will seek to become a loving extended family to our children of all ages.

Welcome all cultures, skin colors, and economic classes.  We will embrace the diversity given by God and seek to find unity at the foot of His cross.

Seek to make disciples of all people from all nations.

Love Mercy

In this sinful world, not one of us could survive without the mercy of God, and we are called to show that same mercy to the world.  Jesus declared, “Blessed are the merciful” and told us” all men will know you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Believe our highest calling is to demonstrate God’s love to our fellow man.

Strive to be a place where sinners experience the grace and mercy of God.  We will seek to be a loving, forgiving, encouraging, friendly, and accepting people who want nothing to do with gossip, grumbling, complaining, and judgmental attitudes that are natural to our sinful nature.

We believe God raised up the Adventist church giving us a special message of hope to be proclaimed prior to the return of Christ.  We seek to proclaim the gospel and invite others to accept its life changing power.

Seek to support families seeking an Adventist education.

Seek to empower, equip, train, and support our members as they use their gifts and unique personality to serve God.  We hope to encourage each person who is trying to work for God, especially our leadership, and will be patient with their inevitable mistakes and faltering.

Walk Humbly

Humility is not one virtue among many; it is the fertile soil in which all virtues grow.  Love, joy, peace, patience, self-control, and all other fruits of the Spirit, can flourish only in the heart humbled by the forgiveness and love of God.  To walk humbly, is not only a deed to be performed by the sincere Christian; it is way of life for the true Disciple.

Recognize that we are all undeserving recipients of the love, forgiveness, promises, and bountiful blessings of God.  Our salvation is not based on anything we are or have done; therefore, we recognize our daily need to stay in relationship with Him.  We seek a daily walk with our Savior that will naturally involve prayer and studying His Word.

Believe in the priority of prayer, recognizing that any good thing must come from Him.  We believe all ministries and decisions of the church must be brought to the throne of God and bathed in prayer.

Believe that when we gather for worship, we have come not to please ourselves, but worship our benevolent Creator and Redeemer.  We will strive for a Biblical worship service that is Spirit-led and Christ-Centered.  We seek to embrace this diversity as a foretaste of eternal worship services to come.

Believe it is the responsibility of every believer to base their faith on God’s Word.

Believe that we are stewards of our time, body, and money.  This is demonstrated by keeping the Sabbath, taking care of our bodies, and being faithful in tithes and offerings.
